Multifunctional complex, Erba (CO)

Reinterpreting tradition

A multifunctional complex in Erba, Como, on the north side of the main artery, Via XXV Aprile leading to the center. A contemporary reinterpretation of some elements of local tradition: from the pitched roof to the cladding and shutters.

Its layout has taken care to avoid the fraying of the suburbs by organizing the buildings according to urban typologies: buildings facing the street, arcades, central courtyards, stratification of functions.

The enclosed courtyard includes a pedestrian space shaded by six holm oaks and brightened by planters whose edge also serves as a seat.

The entire project was developed, in plan and elevation, from a module subdivided into submodules, which allowed, within the rigidity of the system, the flexibility of certain elements, such as the position of the facade perforations.

Externally, the plan design of the courtyards is organized with the same module as the buildings.
